"It is amazing how big the clinic is. They have it set up as a clinic/ hospital where people can come if they need help and can stay overnight when they are too sick. It is sad when I think about the lack of health care here. If only there can be a place where babies like Cergi can go to get help and medicine. We stayed at the clinic a long time. While the doctors and others were organizing the medicine and things for the clinic Monday, we played with the kids. Some girls were sitting next to me who are in the choir and had just come from practice. They started singing "Oh Happy Day" with me leading and all the kids around singings. It was so uplifting to sing with them...
This evening Cergi was really sick. He had a fever all day and was sweating. After his nap he was crying nonstop and nobody could soothe him. His mom got a little upset and she took him and nursed him. After which, the doctors gave him a full body check up. He had a very bad earache and Dr. Rob mixed him some medicine. I really hope he gets to feeling better. He is the sweetest baby. All kids deserve to live. His mom doesn't want his extra fingers cut off, even though Dr. Rob said it would be easy to do. This was hard for us to understand...
We went to the orphanage today. They showed us around and answered a few questions we had. They have about 30 kids only a couple of them boys. They need so much. The water is bad..."
The rest of the day was spent playing with the kids and walking around the village. Unlike last year, where we went straight to work, this year we got a chance to experience what everyday life was like for them. We passed by mothers bathing their babies, groups of women washing clothes, men playing chicken foot, and of course kids yelling "BLONDE!!"
